Freddie Mac said that the benchmark 30-year fixed rate mortgage average rose in the week ending Thursday to 6.53% from 6.42% last week.

The 30 year fixed rate peaked at 6.76% last July (average for month).

Meanwhile, from the AP: 10-Year Treasury Yield Passes 5 Percent

The 10-year yield broke through 5 percent mark overnight and rose as high as 5.07 percent in mid-morning trading in New York, reaching its highest point since late July.

The 10-Year yield peaked at 5.24% last July. I'd expect mortgage rates to rise again next week.
