From Matthew Graham at Mortgage News Daily: Mortgage Rates Seasonally Sideways

Mortgage rates were lifeless today as financial markets drifted sideways. [30YR FIXED - 4.125%] Although rates CAN move during the last week of December when there's an imbalance between buyers and sellers in bond markets, that's the exception to the rule. We tend to see days exactly like today with effectively zero change in lender rates sheets compared to the previous business day (in this case, last Friday).

• At 7:00 AM ET, The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) will release the results for the mortgage purchase applications index. (might not be released this week due to holidays)

• At 10:00 AM, Pending Home Sales Index for November. The consensus is for a 0.8% decrease in the index.
